Sadolin Superdec: as seen on TV

Did you spot Sadolin in Channel 4’s new ‘Escape to the Chateau DIY’ series which aired this spring?

The latest series featured Paul Golledge, who bought le Chateau de Montvason in Normandy with his partner Emma Newton three years ago and they’ve been lovingly restoring it since using Sadolin and other Crown Trade paints, all supplied by the Crown Decorating Centre in Brentford. The Channel 4 team followed Paul and Emma’s progress over the last 12 months as they refurbished the property before opening it up to guests as a stylish B&B.

One of the key features of the Chateau’s exterior are its beautifully ornate wooden balconies. All the external balconies were brightened up with Sadolin Superdec in white, staying true to their original design and ensuring the balconies will continue to stand out against the masonry of the Chateau. Using water-based Sadolin Superdec, which is both self-priming and undercoating, the balconies will be protected well into the next decade thanks to its flexible finish.

Paul and Emma have become regulars at their local Crown Decorating Centre in Brentford as they’ve tackled the mammoth project over the last few years, with several paints colour-matched in store specifically to tone in with the Chateau’s original interior design and colour scheme.

Paul says: “We fell in love with the Chateau as soon as we saw it. It’s got a fantastic story and we knew we wanted to fully embrace its history as part of the restoration. Getting the paintwork just right both inside and out was a key part of the whole project and I’m so pleased with how it’s all coming together.

“The team at Brentford Crown Decorating Centre recommended that we used Sadolin Superdec and I’ve not been disappointed. It’s easy to apply and saved us time without the need to apply a separate primer and undercoat. They look so much fresher and brighter now and it’s even better to know that I won’t need to repaint them again for years.”
