Creating an eye-catching first impression on the waterfront at Exmouth in the West Country, Exmouth Quay is a striking development built by local developers, Rockeagle Homes.
One of a number of phases in a large scale redevelopment of the area, construction is now complete, with some of the properties overlooking the town’s old harbour, now Exmouth Marina, and others the Exe estuary and the sea.
In order to individualise the properties, which range in size from three and four bedroomed houses with garages to a selection of apartments, the timber clapboard cladding on the exterior of the buildings was coated in products from Sadolin to present a brightly colourful and unusual appearance.
Decorative Finish for Exterior Timber
Sadolin Superdec was specified as the most suitable for the project, in terms of protection and aesthetic versatility.
Superdec is from the water borne range, providing an opaque, decorative finish for exterior timbers, in addition to realising excellent resistance against cracking, peeling and flaking.
Superdec’s inherent opacity formulation effectively resists deterioration caused by direct sunlight, prolonging the life of the timber. As fewer coats are required than comparable painting options, the surface texture of the wood is allowed to be seen.
Wide Range of Beautiful Colours
For further visual appeal, the product was applied to the timber detailing on the properties in a range of colours, including Ponderosa Pine, Red Pepper, California Gold and Caramel Crisp, creating a contemporary design with clean cut lines that reflect and complement the nautical surroundings.
