For new non-durable timber that has not been preservative pre-treated we recommend the application of a wood preserver (usually colourless) before application of a woodstain or other finish.

The preserver prevents decay fungi from rotting the timber and the woodstain provides essential protection from the damaging effects of sunlight and rain, as well as providing a decorative appearance.

With the majority of timbers already preservative pre-treated, Sadolin Wood Preservers are ideal in the following situations:

  • Where any timber components have not previously been preservative treated
  • For the treatment of cut end grains or timber cut to size on site
  • To add extra protection to fast grown, lower quality timbers
  • Sadolin Wood Preservers may be applied either by brushing or dipping

Colourless, solvent-borne preservative treatment.
