Weymouth Sealife Centre

Sadolin Superdec has helped to transform the appearance of Weymouth Sealife Centre. The Park offers a mixture of indoor and outdoor attractions, set in seven acres of land. These include the penguin, shark, otter and seal sanctuaries as well as the newly opened Amazone, which houses, amongst others, a collection of razor teeth piranha fish.

Accommodation for the array of sea creatures is within large, timber clad sheds, with a refurbishment plan suggested to brighten up the park through the use of the extensive colour palette of Sadolin Superdec. "The transformation is amazing," comments Kevin Benson of the Centre. "We have used Superdec in a variety of bold and vibrant colours to reflect the individual areas. For example, we have used dark purples and blues for the Creatures of the Deep exhibit and for the new Amazone, we have used Amazonian Green."

Sadolin Superdec offers an attractive alternative to traditional translucent wood finishes in both colour and finish by providing a paint like finish. However, unlike "traditional paints" Superdec has the flexibility of a woodstain allowing the coating to move with timber.

"The value of Superdec is that it allows previously repainted timber to be rejuvenated visually with minimal preparation," concludes Mr Benson. "Since the refurbishment, we have had an amazingly positive response from visitors who love the new look of the Sealife Centre."
