When the committee members of the Park Gate Primary School Association
decided to spruce up their Southampton school, the timber fencing
surrounding the buildings was a priority, and Sadolin Superdec provided
the ideal coating solution.
“There was a lot of painted timber around the school grounds,
which over a period of time had become cracked and unsightly,”
explains committee member, Carrie Parker.
“The result was an eyesore - dull grey fencing and a weatherbeaten
old shed which is used to store play equipment. In addition, there
is a wooden based adventure playground which was also showing signs
of age.”
Sadolin recommended Superdec, an opaque exterior woodstain, to
the school for the regeneration of the exterior, to help give it
a brighter, more aesthetically appealing appearance.
Protection against future ageing deterioration was also a key consideration
as the school wanted a product that would offer low maintenance
and long lasting protection.
Sadolin Superdec fitted the bill perfectly as this opaque woodstain
erodes naturally by weathering, preventing any build up of the coating.
This helps to reduce significantly the cracking, flaking and peeling
normally associated with traditional paints, leading to greater
durability with lower maintenance costs.
“What has emerged is the ease of application that Superdec offers,” continues Carrie Parker. “Everyone who volunteered
to help with the painting found it a lovely, easy product to apply.
As for the colour range, one of our parents is also a landscape
architect, and with his help, we were able to make good use of the
colours, varying the scheme in each area to define the spaces and
culminating in a striped, block panel effect for the fencing around
the staff car park.”
